MW4 DMZ Beginner Guide: Your First Hajin Run

Gear up at the FOB, read the Hajin Tac-Map, and get your first successful extraction in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ.

Gear up before you deploy

DMZ is an extraction mode in which your squad can face both hostile NPCs and rival Operators. The Forward Operating Base (FOB) is where you pick an Active Duty Operator, check your Orders, and prepare the equipment you will carry into Hajin.

The Ready Up screen offers a Free Loadout. You can keep that gear if you successfully extract. For a first run, we suggest using that option if it covers your basic needs and leaving scarce equipment in the shared Stash.

  • Check for a weapon, plate carrier, backpack, and Med Kit before deploying.
  • Review the first available DMZ Order. Pick one objective you can finish and still leave time to extract.
  • If you are playing without friends, Squad Fill can match you with two allies.

Read the Tac-Map before choosing a route

The in-game Tac-Map shows objectives, named locations, threats, and the spread of radiation. Your HUD also shows the deployment timer. Free Roam with ground insertion starts your team on foot in a random part of Hajin.

Suggested first run: locate your objective and an active extraction, then pick an approach with cover. Identify a second exit if one is available. Change plans if you take casualties, encounter another squad, or find that radiation is cutting off the approach.

Example solo route through Imjin Farmland

Use this example if you deploy near Imjin Farmland and have an active exit in reach. Bring a weapon you can replace, plates and healing. Make a short supply stop around the loading dock, then move toward the edge of the fields to keep cover close. The Rice Mill has a higher baseline threat than the surrounding fields, so skip it unless your objective takes you inside.

Use the D7 farmland exfil if your Tac-Map shows it open. The west-bank C6 exfil is a backup only if it is active and the crossing is still practical. If both are closed, pick an active exit on your side of the river. Set out early enough to change your plan before the timer runs down.

Call the helicopter and extract

Each deployment activates exfils from a pool of possible sites. Green smoke identifies an active helicopter extraction. Call it in, hold the area while it arrives, and board the helicopter to complete your extraction. Call of Duty also documents alternate exits such as a Fulton balloon or Flare.

Suggested first run: leave while you have enough time to reach the site, wait for the helicopter, and change exits if the approach becomes untenable. Once back at the FOB, put spare gear in the Stash and re-equip before launching again.
